MY Otaku styled hair

Ok first these are in no way beauty shots * blush*

My sister recently came over to touch and  re-gear my hair So now I can share.
My husband said I looked like I was preparing for an alien invasion!
Ok this picture is awful no make up and for some reason I have a double chin eek, but I was having loads of fun with my sister. Two of my sisters helped pick out my hairstyle " something that fits your personality"  Yes Yes I am the odd duck and the giggle a little over my nerdiness, but they love me.You see Otaku s a Japanese term used to refer to people with obsessive interests like anime, manga or video games. My sister who was doing my hair loved the challenge of recreating something you might see in an anime or manga series. Both sisters thought it would also fit my quirky personality.  I tend to agree.

All the time and foil was worth it though. I love my new style . Yes Yes I finished and got the internet. I think I'm an addict JK! I was doing some last minute posts!
                                             View of the back

View of the front. Sorry I'm not dressed well in the picture. We finished just in time to get ready for my dance class.

My beautiful sister who did my hair  and me!

Spring has Sprung here and I am loving the weather here. Just in case any of you are wondering we are working on our kitchen bu we had a hold up because my husband had a flare up and we had to wait for some tools from our landlord. Till then I have been out playing with my kids and today I started on prepping my backyard for outdoor enjoyment. We have a paved space in our backyard perfect for sitting and enjoying spring and summer evenings....well once they it is cleaned up! Of course there has been so many lovely ideas I have found on Pinterest to help my out with fixing it up!  Like this for parties or entertaining

Trying something new

This week I had a craft show! I make tutus and love doing so, but there are so many people out there making tutus now. I wanted to do something different so first I started with RAGATU'S which many seem to making now and calling them tattered TUTU's. I love making these and my youngest daughter loves wearing them. She likes how the shake and spin. She actually calls them her Shaka Shaka skirts :)

Now I am making Hand Dyed tutus and as far as I can tell very few others are actually doing this. I hunted on the web and on Etsy, Which I love! So Yay for me right!?! My hands this week looked liked I tried to Tie Dye them. I should have taken a picture of them but I was more worried about getting them back to a normal color by Saturday that it never really dawned on me! I had so much fun testing different colors and ways of dying the tulle.Testing different types of dye for not colorfastness but overall safety.

I will be creating more of these and some new charms this week. You can check out all of my new tutus and wooden toys on my website !

Weekend fun

This weekend my oldest 3 went to my mom's house for the entire weekend, but because my youngest still gets into mommie's bed at night she had to stay home. So we had a special weekend just for her.
We let her walk the dog....watch towards the end.

We took her to the park

and to the store for special treats and her Grandmother and Grandad ( grangran) took her ( and her mommie and daddy) to eat a burrito. Daddy made her homemade pizza, cookies and grilled cheese sandwiches.
We also to her on a walk and to see the puppies and kitties at our local humane society.  We played all of her fave and some new games with her. This is why my blog, social media and projects went on undone. All I can say it was well worth it, she loved getting mommie and daddy all to her self.

Love affair with pinterest

I love pinterest. I am always finding something new on there. I am on there way to often, at least once a day. I t has gotten so bad when I find a craft I tell others I am pinteresting or I am creating a pin. It is so amazing how many wonderful ideas are on there for just about anything. Like Mason Jars I had no idea there were so many cool ideas to use with mason jars. Like these

Going to the park

Today I took my kids to the park. It was a lot of fun for all of us. My husband has borrowed my BIL's metal detector and when we get to the park you would think he had produced a magical wand. Many of the kids followed him around, helping him dig hoes in the sand if the detector beeps. The excitement on their faces of the prize yet to be found is beyond cool. I also love their fearlessness to to go and investigate something new ( even if a strange person is the new) and allow the excitement of it bring them joy. As adults we often bypass anything new, especially if it involves talking to a complete stranger. Now I know there are some who have no issue with walking up to a person and just striking up a conversation like it is nothing at all, but these people are not the norm. Some of that is that  as kids we are taught  stranger danger, which these days ever so much more.  I once read an article that said as parents we should teach our kids not stranger danger but stranger aware. To teach kids to follow their gut. While I can see a point in that because they will need to know how to maneuver with many people and age groups in their lifetime and yet something I find myself asking is do I really want to lose my child because their gut was wrong or just plain ignored. I think as parents we need to teach our kids to be aware that there are strangers who mean you harm and sometimes they present themselves as a friend or innocent person. That there are strangers who are dangerous. That if anything ever happens ( no matter what it is) to run screaming to the nearest adult and to not stop telling someone what happened until they are heard. Now as adults we should trust our gut, but allow ourselves to meet new people and try new things. Trust our guts because there are still people ( strangers) who will mean us harm, but statistically the people you should watch are the ones you know. So why not make some new friends and try some new things.

Funny little side story though. while at the park today I was going down an inclosed swirling slide with my youngest daughter ( many times) and to young boys were getting the slide right behind me. They startd whispering behind me and this is their conversation.
Boy one - she has red in her hair. Why does she have red in her hair? (I have red patches in my hair. Not a norm for the area I live in or my age group)
boy two - I don't know. Touch it.  ( I went down the slide before he could )

Fixing the kitchen and other fun tasks

This week I have a huge chore ahead of me. I am fixing up my kitchen. Starting with the floor. We had a huge leak in the kitchen and it warped the plywood and vinyl tile our landlord had put down. He was hoping it would smooth back out but it did not and so he is allowing me to fix it. I actually love jobs like this. I once ripped carpet out of my 800 sqft home, cut it up and put it my trash in in one day all by myself. I don't mind getting dirty if I can see the end out come. We are ripping up the tile, the plywood, and what is assumed to be another layer of tile and then replacing the flooring. This time with better and more water resistant products. I will also get to paint my house after that. I am so very excited. A little paint can really change the look of a room with the least amount of any real cost. BONUS my landlord is paying for it and I get to pick it out. I will take some before and after pictures to share. One not so good thing I am fairly certain about is that there is mold that I will have to handle in the floor, but better me than my kids inhaling the stuff. Especially my claire bear who has asthma. I also will be working on my site and booth space more this week. I will also get to decide what dance I will be doing at my recital with the rest of my class this week. I love my irish dance class it is so much fun. and sometime this week I am supposed to fit in a date night with my hubby. It looks like it will be a long and productive week,

Building a better......

I love doing craft shows but I need to upgrade my booth. I have noticed that so many of the booths these days just seem to be the same thing over and over again. I want my booth space to pop out at the crowd but be welcoming, like a little haven from the rest of the show. So I am working on one that will work well in and outdoors. It also must be easy to set up and tear down. Compact and easy to haul, especially sine I currently only have my van.  It needs levels and color as well. I have to take into account I live in Oklahoma which when they sang  about the winds sweeping across the plains they were not just making a pretty song.  Also I have a slim budget for building. So I have been testing ideas and making lots and lots of drawings. I have been doing lots of discussing my ideas with my sisters, husband and anyone else who will listen. I have been dragging my poor husband up and down isles of hardware stores and display stores. I have Googled booth ideas. I have even asked my vendor group for ideas, they were as stuck as I am. It was suggested to me to look for ideas at pinterest......like I need more reasons to spend hours on there. I have also been working on a color scheme. Now I need to make a plan and build it. I think maybe though it maybe more fun planning than building. That is until I unveil it at my next show. That day will be awesome.

I am also working on building a better website. I want my site to be clean, trustworthy, bright, and easy to use. I am updating all my info including my shipping info. I already have no problem shipping overseas to places like Canada and Europe. I am just not sure if I should really put that on my website since it is not really not very cost efficient for my overseas customers because I use priority shipping with tracking so I can be sure it not only cuts down on the time to get to my customers but I also can make sure that they actually get it. I am working on uploading my premade items for those that want to buy something and go. I want to come up with some more clever names for my tabs.  I need to advertise my site more in more places like  For Love of CupCakes ( which by the way she has the best sponsor prices I have found so far and she really works to get her sponsors names out there, can you tell I love her!).  So in other words I am working working working.

I will say my husband is this awesome. I am so blessed :)

Wonderful Wednesday Fun

Here's a little bit of zombie fun to help you get over your midweek blue. Now you can actually buy bullets to see through the zombie apocalypse.

For those of you laughing at those of us prepping for the zombie apocalypse should know even the CDC has a page on prepping and what they would do in case of just such an occasion . Check it out here

Now for those fine dinner occasions during the end of the world you could enjoy a glass of wine.

Now of course if you don't happen to survive and actually become a zombie you too will be able to stay up on all of the current trends.

and of course remember

and just remember this folks on this very fine Wednesday.

Cause if you die and turn to a zombie you will see me again only I will be carrying on of these

Well see now that was fun. Have a great rest of your day!

Please Don't Share!

We have had a really hard week here. It started with a migraine for mommie and then a stomach virus. When it started we thought oh it is food poisoning because  our two eldest came home from a youth group party with tummy aches. Unfortunately it was not just food poisoning. I was abruptly woken by my 3 year old throwing up on me and my bed. Then later as that was finishing it's work through my family my husband thought he might be getting a scratchy throat. As we have been trying to contain this it made think of how many times we tell our kids to share. Share your toys, share your snack( i.e goldfish, crackers etc.) share share share. Now I am saying wait stop. Please don't share my drink, my food, your food, etc. Please Don't Share Your Germs. I do not want any more illnesses this year thank you.  So I am rethinking the sharing thing. The next time my kids are playing in the park and a snotty nosed kid wants a few of my kids sand toys I may just say you don't have to and when the insulted mom says it's just allergies I will look at her suspiciously and wonder if it really is just allergies or if she is just completely oblivious to the fact her kid has some kind of cold and is infecting my child with it ( nice side note learned the hard way if it looks like pink eye and the parent says it's allergies trust your gut). Perhaps the next time I am at the McDonald's Play Place I will insist my child not play with the child who is repeatedly coughing in my child's direction and when that child's parent says oh they are just a little warm and that makes them cough I will give her a crazy look and cough in her direction and exclaim oh I understand I do the same thing and it is so really warm in here.  No I wont really do these things but I will start teaching my children to not put their hands to their faces with out washing them first, wash before eating and after being out ( especially during cold and flu season which typically lasts till May here). I will keep my kids from being the kid that spread the germs. We have got to teach our kids to not share their germs.

Sick days are still good days.

Sorry this week had been so slow. I was sick with a headache for two days and then we got hit with a stomach bug. Which we are still dealing with. Hopefully it will stay at 2 kids and not the other 2 or us the parents, but I am fairly certain if it is contagious I have been contaminated thanks to my kids swiping drinks from my pop the night they got sick. YA me.  My poor little 3 yr old has no understanding what is wrong. She started throwing up and decided she was done with it so despite still going she tried to get up and walk away saying she was done. I wish it was that easy it breaks my heart for her.  So that has been my week so far add that to the fact I have to finish getting ready for a craft show. Very long week but I know one of these days I will miss having a little one to take care of. Hearing mommie coming out of a bedroom, being trapped under a body that is finally sleeping or even being asked to just be near. Someday that will be gone and my home will be silent except for the occasional visit. So even these days I have come to be thankful for. I just don't want or need to many of these weeks.

To Bathe or not?

My 3 year old hates - yes I said hates- being washed especially her hair. Has since she was an infant. You would think after years now of being bathed she would at least tolerate and expect it, but no it is a screaming nightmare for both of us. Now she loves to "play" in a bubble bath, but if I pull out the soap she freaks. I have tried all kinds of tricks like covering her head with a rag, using the rag to rinse her hair, acting like the rag was a puppet, washing her hair in the sink while she lies on the counter with a rag over face, etc. Now some of you are thinking  why not let her clean herself.  Well that is because she tells me things I'm all clean I washed my feet and the rest her is bone dry. Now some days if she has only played inside I do let the whole I'm clean the bubbles cleaned me slide. I know eventually she will be able to 1. understand why she must bathe and or 2. tell me why she dislikes it so much. I just am not sure that day can come fast enough for either one of us. It is so bad that I will admit some days I let her win and she wont have to bathe that night. Honestly there is only so many mommie no with great big sobbing puppy dog tears  chasing the toddler forcing her to get and stay  in a tub of water screaming like she is being beat severely nights one mom can take.  I know I am not alone in this. One of my sisters has a kid who has developed an issue with water being on their head. Yet I sure feel alone and like a mean bad mommie when it comes to bath time. Being mom is not always as what June Cleaver, Carol Brady, Shirley Partridge made it look like. Heck even Morticia Adams made it look to easy and her kids were crazy.

A Bucket list

I love watching an Idiot Abroad. So stinking funny.  It cracks me up seeing his reaction to the things the other guys put him through.  Watching the show though made me think why not make a Bucket List. Why not set some goals to try and reach before I die? I think it would make life so much more interesting than just doing the usual daily grind till I can no longer go. So I have been trying to come up with a Bucket List. I of course started where I think most people do... Travel. Places I want to see and experience.  SO far the list includes places like the Safari in South Africa, Pyramids in Egypt, Japan, China, Ireland,  France (again), South America, Alaska, Scotland, Greece, Rome, Grand Canyon, Jamaica ( again), The Amazon rain forest and so and so forth. I have chosen so many places so I can always have a goal and there is no rule saying I have to make it to all of them before I die I just have to try. Then I started thinking I need to add accomplishments to my bucket list. That for some reason has been a little harder, but I have figured out a few. I want to learn to speak Japanese and Cantonese, I want to go sky diving, I want to get my scuba diving certification and I want to run a marathon. I need to add more and I am sure I will, but thinking about it has already opened up more opportunities in my world. Expanding my view of the possibilities in my life. I am only in my 30's after all life is not done with me yet and I plan on soaking up every second of it. Not letting the joy of just being alive pass me by leaving me wondering what more could have been in my old age.

Dancing ?

I take an Irish dance class with my mom and my sister S. Now I have no ideas of being this good

Though it would be fun to do something like this

And while I am learning the moves I feel like my class mates look like this

While I feel like I look like this

crazy, off beat and doing my own thing and all!

Recently our class has been combined with a kids class because they are fixing the facility we were using and the kids with beautiful limber joints, youth and extreme amounts of energy make it that much worse. Plus when a kid gets off or messes it they are cute while adults look silly. GOD Bless my ever patient  teacher who will go over the same step over and over again for me. Even when she was very very pregnant she was out there showing us the moves.

I promise I will have my husband or my teacher video me and will show you the awful but fun truth of it all very soon :)

And just 4 fun

Working on some new decor ideas with out breaking the bank

I have been thinking about a change and upgrade to my homes very sad style. Here's the thing it so needs to be on the cheap to free side in order to work in my budget. Thanks to pinterest and people posting tips to their blogs i have found some wonderful ideas  i am going to have to try.

I have been wanting a nice ottoman and this looks beautiful and simple to make.

So neat and simple Styrofoam and scrapbook paper.
Source: curbly.com via Alicia on Pinterest

Cutrains made from table cloths could be so cute

This is more do able than anything if I can convince my husband to give up some of his books.

and of course one of the cheapest big things you can do to room is repaint it. and I am blessed  to have a landlord that would let me do it if I pass the colors by him first.

Oh and I have been busy checkout my websites new look.
I am working on some ideas for my new craft booth style. I think I will share those with you soon :)

Parent talk

Today in the mix of a day of playing in the snow, housework, neighbors visiting I got a call from my sister L. Which is always a nice treat. We have a lot in common but also she has kids who just like mine inevitably come to ask her a dozen questions while she is on the phone.  It is so awesome to hear some one else actually say because I said so. After our discussion I started thinking about some of the funny and unusual conversations that you have as a parent with another parent. Here are a few I have heard or had with others.

1 My kids have I'm on the phone radar which has caused me to literally hide in my closet or bathroom just to get a conversation out.
2 My kids have the ability to hear the crinkle of a sugary snack in another room so I pretend to be looking the freezer or fridge to eat the snack with out being trapped into giving one to my kids.
3. I am always doing laundry. It never ends. I will wash and dry it and then just leave it in a pile on the couch hoping someone else will want to fold it.( which does not happen not even if you try to make it a game)
4 I only lightly wash over the sides the shower with a rag and cleaner but today I discovered that what I thought was off white is actually white.
5. My potty training toddler spilled pee all over my shoe as they tried to dump their own potty with out telling mom.
6. My potty training toddler tried to wipe their own poopie bottom and ended up getting it all over their bottom and the toilet seat.
7. My toddler asked me to clean their bottom with water because it was itchy.
8. I can clean my house and as soon as I am done with one room the kids have messed it up again while I tried to work on another room.
9. Hold on a second....... you went poop yay..... did you wipe
10. Hold on a second ...... no you can not have another snack
11 Hold on a second...... I said to leave your sibling alone
12 Sometimes I bribe my kids with candy to get them stop throwing a fit in the store
13. I threaten that if they don't behave I will take them to the bathroom in the store and spank their bottoms...it works but I have never done it so I don't know why it works
14. my kids have the stinkiest farts, biggest poops etc.
15 How is that an infant can fart bigger than an adult....so when you blame the baby in the store the perfect stranger looks at you like you are awful for blaming your sweet innocent baby for such a thing. that is unless they are parents too then they just smile or giggle with you.
16 and finally hold on a second.... can't you see I am on the phone

I think sharing these things and so many more help keep us parents sane and feeling a little less like this is only happening to me and my kids are ............
So get other and share. You will feel so much better and may just get a good laugh into, just remember the closet is a good place to talk. haha

Terrific Tuesday

I have been out of the loop lately. I have had sickies, a horrible 2 day headache that is still threatening, an addiction to finishing the Hunger Games series and just plain old ordinary life. I have a Baby Bazaar this Saturday in Mustang. I am so excited. I will be doing the show with Two of my sisters. My sisters L and S. We each have our own things we do and are each expanding on the different items we make and carry. S does adorable sewn hats and pictures. While L does T-shirt scarves and hair bows. Then there is me with tutus, knitted items and more. I love that I am going to get to do a show with them. They are so much fun to hang out with and really the shows are perfect excuses to get to hang out for a few hours. Plus make a little money hopefully :) You should come out and see us. We are all about as different as night and day but you will find lots of smiles and laughs at our table. We each have different names for our businesses but we have a group name Hot Ta-mommies.Our kids gave us the idea. We are building an awesome booth since we are going to be doing a lot more shows. I will of course keep posting them on my website so all my local buddies can find me.I will have to post some pictures after all our fun this weekend.
Till then here's a little fun. This is me with my sisters L and S. We took these photos at Glamor Shots with our mom for her Birthday. Needless to say they weren't all serious pictures.

Monday Madness

My fave game aside from anything zombie is World of Warcraft. I know big shocker not only am I girl who is a gamer but I also have kids and I'm a wife. Wont hold me back from thrashing a  zombie to a pulp or giving a good whooping to a nasty little Horde member. World of Warcraft is an MMORPG  ( Massive  Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). You do have to buy the game and time for online game time which can be costly but if you watch Blizzard's store you can score some awesome deals at times. Now there are those who are thinking it is a fancy version of Dungeons and Dragons but it is so much more. You can chose if you want to even play against other people or the game. You have the option to go rogue and do it alone or join up with friends and master the world as a team. You have the option of not only a character type but whether you are good or bad ( Alliance or Horde). You can even have one of both. You can meet new people from all over and most of them are more than happy to help out another player. There are battles, dungeons, quests and professions all waiting for you at different levels. The game it's self is constantly evolving and growing. the scenery is amazing and the characters are too. Especially when you consider who ever it is that is building is not seeing what you are seeing but code that translated into what you are seeing and doing.  Now I want to talk to those who think World of Warcraft are for Nerds, Geeks or Dorks. Have you seen whose playing and whose done commercials for the game? Let's see there is Ozzy Osbourne, Mr. T, Chuck Norris, William Shatner, Verne Troyer, Jean-Claude Van Damme , Steve Van Sandt, and Aubrey Plaza ( yes girls rock this game too). Then you have companies like Toyota, Mountain Dew, Slim Jim who use World of Warcraft in commercials. Not so lowly now huh?!You can even find World or Warcrafts influence in Pinterest.

So if you are interested ( which you know you are)you can try it now for free.
ENJOY!!

Sweet Something's Sunday

I love Proverbs 31 and reading my bible on how to be a better wife or a better woman. I know last week I covered gossiping and this week I wanted to cover nagging. I know a lot of us * nag* our husbands to *help* us. Before I was saved I nagged my husband to death at times and even to this day I sometimes start to nag my husband until he gently points out to me that I have been doing so.
I guess we should discuss what is nagging. It is not gently reminding your husband to fix that thing you can't or do that thing he said he would. It is telling him over and over again to *Please* do such and such or just plain demanding it. It is demanding that your spouse do things in your ways only.
As I was studying this week it came across to me that we call it nagging but really we are being quarrelsome and bucking against the headship that is supposed to be in our homes. I mean think about it; are you telling your spouse something repeatedly because you have to or are you doing it to control the situation? Does nagging at your husband lead to peace or does it lead to frustration? I know there have been times for me that I can answer honestly that I was trying to get my way period and it led to frustration.
Now I know you are thinking "if I do not tell him to do it repeatedly he wont do it  or he will forget". You are also thinking "I need things done my way because it is the *__________* way because*_________*. I have found out that if I gently remind my husband maybe two times for something he was much quicker at do the things I needed and even volunteering to do things for me with out being asked than when I would drill him over things like a child. I also have found that when I let go and let him get things done his way not only do they still get done but he is much happier about doing them. This is because I have shown that I respect him as we are told to do in the bible. Men thrive on respect ( read Love and Respect for more on this biblical teaching). These teachings are counter to what our society tells us we should do. The nagging in charge wife is revered and the meek and quiet wife is frowned at. We have been told that we deserve our way and we are nothing if we are not demanding to get our way.
However, the bible teaches us that we are to be like Sarah and she called Abraham *LORD* .She submitted to her husband. We are to submit to our husband as unto the LORD ( you do not have to submit to anything Un-Biblical... ever). In this day we no longer have that particular social standard to call our husbands "Lord" of our household yet we can still do this with our words and actions showing our husbands the proper respect. The Bible teaches we can turn the favor of our husbands towards Jesus just by our actions. Ask yourself  the next time you are nagging at your husband; is this reflecting Christ to my husband?
There are things we can do like I said before, gently remind your husband. I do have to do this because my husband can be forgetful at times. Just remember this, your tone will set the mood of your conversation. You will get more flies with honey than you will with vinegar. Also let go! Not everything has to be done your way. I had a hard time with this when it came to my kids but guess what I let go. The kids are still alive, they have a great relationship with their dad and things got done! Pick your battles is it really worth it. Is the towel on the floor really worth the frustration? Chances are probably not. If you can do it yourself then do it. I got this from Proverbs 31. That woman is not sitting around saying honey do this or that. She is letting her husband do his own thing and she is getting done what she wants/needs done. Lastly if something is important to you and you feel he is not understanding it chances are he's not. You need to calmly talk with him without accusations but stating the way you feel and why. After that chances are he will be more willing to try to help you and listen to you with love and understanding.
I hope this is a great study for you this week it has been for me.

Some of the scripture I studied this week.

Proverbs 21:9, 21:19, 25:11,27:15-16

1 Peter 3:5-6, 5:5

Ephesians 4:29, 5
