Today I took my kids to the park. It was a lot of fun for all of us. My husband has borrowed my BIL's metal detector and when we get to the park you would think he had produced a magical wand. Many of the kids followed him around, helping him dig hoes in the sand if the detector beeps. The excitement on their faces of the prize yet to be found is beyond cool. I also love their fearlessness to to go and investigate something new ( even if a strange person is the new) and allow the excitement of it bring them joy. As adults we often bypass anything new, especially if it involves talking to a complete stranger. Now I know there are some who have no issue with walking up to a person and just striking up a conversation like it is nothing at all, but these people are not the norm. Some of that is that as kids we are taught stranger danger, which these days ever so much more. I once read an article that said as parents we should teach our kids not stranger danger but stranger aware. To teach kids to follow their gut. While I can see a point in that because they will need to know how to maneuver with many people and age groups in their lifetime and yet something I find myself asking is do I really want to lose my child because their gut was wrong or just plain ignored. I think as parents we need to teach our kids to be aware that there are strangers who mean you harm and sometimes they present themselves as a friend or innocent person. That there are strangers who are dangerous. That if anything ever happens ( no matter what it is) to run screaming to the nearest adult and to not stop telling someone what happened until they are heard. Now as adults we should trust our gut, but allow ourselves to meet new people and try new things. Trust our guts because there are still people ( strangers) who will mean us harm, but statistically the people you should watch are the ones you know. So why not make some new friends and try some new things.
Funny little side story though. while at the park today I was going down an inclosed swirling slide with my youngest daughter ( many times) and to young boys were getting the slide right behind me. They startd whispering behind me and this is their conversation.
Boy one - she has red in her hair. Why does she have red in her hair? (I have red patches in my hair. Not a norm for the area I live in or my age group)
boy two - I don't know. Touch it. ( I went down the slide before he could )

Guns in real life vs Tv myth
My husband and I both are capable shooters. My husband grew up using guns. We both know they are no toys and have taught our kids the same. We have set the rules if you see a gun you do not touch it unless you are being supervised at the gun range ( for our teens), our younger ones are just told to run and tell an adult. We ask our kids friends parents if they own guns and if so what precautions they take to be sure the kids will not stumble upon them. All guns are loaded always no matter what anyone else says.We know guns are a controversial issue and we firmly believe that it is each parents choice but we want our kids to have full knowledge of a gun and the consequences of using one improperly. GUNS ARE NOT TOYS and DO NOT MAKE YOU LOOK TOUGH. This is where TV myth comes in. Not all guns just go off if they are dropped ( some can but most wont). Once an automatic gun is out is does not keep clicking, the slide stays open to show the gun is empty. You do not cock an automatic gun except for a few models like the 1911 and few other models. Being shot in the shoulder or side is not just a wound you can wrap and go with. Shooting the gas tank in a car will not make the car explode. Hugging the corner to enter a room is not the most effective way to enter and clear a room except under team related instances. You can not curve a bullet, you pull your shot you pull your bullet off target hitting an unintended target. Spinning a loaded gun on your finger is not a cool trick but a very stupid and deadly act ( you will end up killing yourself or someone else). Guns really do only have a limit on bullets that are loaded and need re- loaded. 99% of people will not pick up a gun and be able to make some ridiculous shot it actually takes practice to get good at shooting. Bullets can go through walls and a car but most civilian bullets can not go through body armor and no hollow points are not armor piercing. Shooting a gun will make your ears ring, you will not be holding some long dialogue with your opponent, well at least not easily. I wish Hollywood would not play up a gun making you a bad a** and portray them in their true form. A gun is a weapon and a tool not a toy. It also not the way you handle your problems. It is a last recourse to save your life.

Please Don't Share!
We have had a really hard week here. It started with a migraine for mommie and then a stomach virus. When it started we thought oh it is food poisoning because our two eldest came home from a youth group party with tummy aches. Unfortunately it was not just food poisoning. I was abruptly woken by my 3 year old throwing up on me and my bed. Then later as that was finishing it's work through my family my husband thought he might be getting a scratchy throat. As we have been trying to contain this it made think of how many times we tell our kids to share. Share your toys, share your snack( i.e goldfish, crackers etc.) share share share. Now I am saying wait stop. Please don't share my drink, my food, your food, etc. Please Don't Share Your Germs. I do not want any more illnesses this year thank you. So I am rethinking the sharing thing. The next time my kids are playing in the park and a snotty nosed kid wants a few of my kids sand toys I may just say you don't have to and when the insulted mom says it's just allergies I will look at her suspiciously and wonder if it really is just allergies or if she is just completely oblivious to the fact her kid has some kind of cold and is infecting my child with it ( nice side note learned the hard way if it looks like pink eye and the parent says it's allergies trust your gut). Perhaps the next time I am at the McDonald's Play Place I will insist my child not play with the child who is repeatedly coughing in my child's direction and when that child's parent says oh they are just a little warm and that makes them cough I will give her a crazy look and cough in her direction and exclaim oh I understand I do the same thing and it is so really warm in here. No I wont really do these things but I will start teaching my children to not put their hands to their faces with out washing them first, wash before eating and after being out ( especially during cold and flu season which typically lasts till May here). I will keep my kids from being the kid that spread the germs. We have got to teach our kids to not share their germs.

Terrific Tuesday
I have been out of the loop lately. I have had sickies, a horrible 2 day headache that is still threatening, an addiction to finishing the Hunger Games series and just plain old ordinary life. I have a Baby Bazaar this Saturday in Mustang. I am so excited. I will be doing the show with Two of my sisters. My sisters L and S. We each have our own things we do and are each expanding on the different items we make and carry. S does adorable sewn hats and pictures. While L does T-shirt scarves and hair bows. Then there is me with tutus, knitted items and more. I love that I am going to get to do a show with them. They are so much fun to hang out with and really the shows are perfect excuses to get to hang out for a few hours. Plus make a little money hopefully :) You should come out and see us. We are all about as different as night and day but you will find lots of smiles and laughs at our table. We each have different names for our businesses but we have a group name Hot Ta-mommies.Our kids gave us the idea. We are building an awesome booth since we are going to be doing a lot more shows. I will of course keep posting them on my website so all my local buddies can find me.I will have to post some pictures after all our fun this weekend.
Till then here's a little fun. This is me with my sisters L and S. We took these photos at Glamor Shots with our mom for her Birthday. Needless to say they weren't all serious pictures.

Thoughtful Tuesday
So following some awesome advice I am going for content and on here I will have a post labeled for each day but I will also post about things that catch my fancy so things don't become stale but you will know what to expect or to look for on here. So Tuesday's will be Thoughtful Tuesdays. Soooo on with the show. Today's thoughts will be on Marriage. This will be one of my fave topics I can already tell you now. This is because mine was saved by GOD from certain destruction. Now when my husband and I would counsel we shared our tools with others and now I will share them with you. Now this is going to be awesome for those with rocky marriages, those with awesome marriages, those married for only a short while and those married for a long time. Today I want to cover ways to reopen the door to appreciation for your spouse. In our day to day we often forget to look at our spouses and see the wonderful person that gave us butterflies. When you add kids to the mix things can get even more crazy. So here are some tips to keep the notion of "this person really is awesome and I really do connect with them" in the front of your mind.
1. Make a list of 10....Guys write a list of things you LOVE about your wife, Gals things you RESPECT about your husband.
2. Start a sweet things jar. Make a jar and fill it with things you love, respect and now about your spouse.Even things you know your spouse likes or needs are OK too. At least 2 times a week pull out one and tell/ do it for your spouse.
3. Write a random note for them put in in their lunch, briefcase, wallet,as a text, twitter,facebook,e-mail. Try it once a week.
4. Try a room tax .... ask for a hug or a kiss when you leave or enter a room your spouse is in. Now not every time because that can get annoying.( Again we really do these things and that is how I know not to over do it haha)
5. Try to fit in date night or couple time once a week. Try to do something that is neutral and maybe even new. My husband and I eat sushi, do puzzles, play games on the Xbox orPS3,read together, try new types of restaurants, snuggle together in our room and watch a movie or show together ( can you tell the ones we do on date nights and the ones we do as our couple time)
As you do these you will be able to add your own ideas and switch them up to keep things new and fun. These things have always helped my hubby and I keep things in perspective. It also helps the other to know we are thinking about them and that we love and appreciate the other one. I hope that maybe you found some new ideas to add to your toolbox to keeping your marriage fresh.
Also I want to Thank 4 Love of CupCakes for her awesome blogging tips.
