A fun wedding trend for 2013

One of the trends for weddings this year is expected to be 1920 styles. Which I just love. Those soft head fitting cloche hats and the bobs with their finger waves. Of course back then instead of curvy the emphasis was on flat so for all those not so well endowed brides to be out there this look will be for you. Plus that time era has such a romantic feel with the US coming out big onto the World Stage after WW1, things were prosperous  and many people ignoring prohibition( creating of what we know look at fondly ( as twisted as it is)of what a gangster should look like). Books like the Great Gatsby swirl with the romance of the time ( don't like to read the movie is coming this spring). The flat yet flowing flapper style dresses of the time were the first to allow girls to actually kick up their hills. Which is a perfect dress style for your reception. I personally love the hairstyles of the 1920's 30's and 40's as well as the hats. Both the hairstyle and the hair accessories/hats  were still so feminine but also modern, functional and fun. These hairstyles would be fun for your wedding style especially if you have short hair. A cute finger wave looks good in long and short hair. The make up back then was mischievous and fun with pale skin ( try a shade lighter than your own to achieve the look),dark smoky eyes, Cupid bow lips done in plums, oranges and raspberry colors, high thin eyebrows and soft cherry cheeks. Walk down the isle with these colors and you will turn heads. Your chosen stylist should be able to help you easily achieve these looks and maybe with a modern tilt to it if you so chose. Now for that walk and that dance later you may choose to take a close look at the 1920 style boon of T-Bar (strapped)heels. So loved and favored because the wouldn't slip off while dancing. You big day will not be the day to loose your shoe until you are ready to. Here are some awesome Pins I found on Pinterest showing some of the styles I mentioned in this blog from the 1920's.Thanks for reading.

10 date night ideas

Preparing for any big event can be very stressful and planing a wedding is no exception. So when you are making your plans be sure to plan in some rest and relaxation for yourself and your soon to spouse and don't forget to do this for the two of you regularly after your big day.  Plan these times to be time for just the two of you with no discussion of your wedding, family or any other stressers. Plan something that is something that is for both of you to do together that is a neutral activity. This may even lead to a new hobby for the two of you to do together.
Here are 10 date night ideas to inspire you whether you are planing your wedding or have been married for years.

1. Dinner out - that's it just dinner out. Just spend an hour or more eating and talking with each other. This is a perfect way to reconnect. You can do this one with out breaking the bank by sharing a meal, watching for specials at your favorite places or even just going to McDonald's.
2. Hit your local mall - find a seat and sit and visit while people watching (pick out the couples that makes you  think you two) or walk around the mall like a pair of goofy teens taking pictures of the two of you through out the mall. This can lighten the mood and give you both a good laugh.
3. Go for a walk - Stroll through your neighborhood, at your local park or at perhaps even a city lake. Walking can help relieve stress and gives you two time to talk and just hang out.
4. TV time - Sure you watch TV all the time but take a night to make a deal of it. Pick a movie you both like, make a pallet in your living room, grab a ton of snacks and snuggle up.
5. Dinner and Dancing IN - sure sounds silly but really it can be so much more fun than doing it out. Plan a fun dinner and set up a space for the two of you to get your grove on after you eat.
6. Backyard Party for two  - mix up couple of your favorite frozen drinks and some appetizers. Set out the lawn chairs and plug in the radio to play your favorite music. Then just sit back, relax and enjoy the company.
7. Catch a show - Visit your local museum or go see the new ballet. Get a little dressed and make a night of it.
8. Go ice skating.  - sounds cliche but this is a lot fun and can bring out a lot of laughs especially if you both are capable ice skates
9.   Go for a shot - visit your local gun range together. There are usually lots of experienced people happy to help you and even if you have no desire to carry a gun it will be a time together you will be unlikely to forget.
10. Puzzle night - grab your favorite drinks and snacks, pick out a puzzle and sit around the table visiting and building the puzzle together. When the puzzle is all done. Glue it together as something to remember the fun time together.
Well have fun and Thank you for reading.

Yummy Hot Cocoa

My kids love hot cocoa. This week we got hit with a cold snap and my kids really wanted some hot cocoa after playing outside, but we were out of those all so handy cocoa packets. So off I set to find a way to make some hot cocoa for my kids with out me having to make a trip to the store. After some digging through my cabinets and pantry and then Googleing recipes for hot cocoa. I combined some of the recipes to best use the ingredients that I had available and make enough for my family. It was a snap to make and my kids loved it. Sunny Bunny said it was like drinking warm melted chocolate ice cream. I decided in light of that I would share the recipe I used. This recipe made 5 servings for us.

Ingredients
1/2 cup of Sugar
1/4 cup of powder cocoa ( I used hershey')
Dash of salt
1/cup water
4 cups milk
3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
Dash of cinnamon

1. Mix sugar, cocoa and salt in a sauce pan.
2. Stir in water
3.Cook and stir over medium heat until it boils
4. Boil and stir for 2 minutes
5. Stir in milk, vanilla and cinnamon
6. heat but do not boil
Pour into cups and serve.
Well I hope you enjoy the recipe as much as we have. Thank you for reading.

Outdoors Wedding ideas

Having your wedding outdoors this spring and summer?  Just because it's out side doesn't mean you have to be limited with you decor or even stifle you style.
Look at the fantastic wedding ideas
steampunk-wedding-083I love this one. They had their guest dress in steampunk or period dress  and created a canopy from branches, moss, lace, pearls and candles. It really gives the whole event such a Victorian literary romantic feel.

On a smaller budget? You could transform a simple backyard affair in to a whimsical  spring event. With some simple props. Here they strung large bulbed lights and unique umbrellas creating a fun and possibly inexpensive canopy for their event
//magical

Want to create a feeling of escape and magic? You could dos omething like this one, it is simply stunning. They transformed an average woodland scene into a dreamy almost magical escape by adding a moss ground cover. A soft fabric backdrop with lights behind it, candles and soft lighting along the isle.  The hints of silver in the accents add to the effect.
I hope some of these ideas inspired you for your own wedding. You can see more ideas on my event inspiration board on pinterest.
You can also order sweet custom made crowns and halos for you, your bridesmaids and your flower girls from me as well as sweet flowing tutu flower girl dresses and brides maids tutus. Just go to my website and tell me what you are looking for and what kind of budget you have.  I will be more than happy to help you make your dreams come true.

cleaning,oragnizing, growing and going

This time of year is awesome for those in a business like mine. I get to look forward to all those spring and summer shows. My creative energy is going full steam coming up with design ideas to go with not only with the up coming holidays, seasons but also with all those new ideas that I spent the last month finalizing as items I wanted to carry this year. I have been so busy cleaning up my website, this blog and my pinterest. I want to give my website a fresh bright look. This blog needed something unique to help it stand out from the crowd as well and I think the background goes so well with my fantasy picture with one of my tutus. My pinterest was just so jumbled I could barely find anything I wanted to let alone anyone following my pins so I decided to organize all my pins. That has been such a huge task. I also have made some new business moves. I took down my Facebook Fan page and put my twitter on to private controls. I am looking to make my company have a more personal person to person feel.  I am working on some new advertising avenues so you will be sure to still see my lovely little cat here and there spreading the news about my shop (Yes I am still going on about my logo and my cat).  I do hope you go by and check out my website. Also keep an eye out for me, I may just pop in places you didn't expect me. This month I have been making some color and design choices for stock for my first show of the year. Plus I have been working on custom orders and stock for a shop I am in. Hopefully I will be able to get stock up on to Etsy here soon as well.   Up next for me is cleaning out my craft closet and organizing it so I can get to the things I want and need a little easier than I can right now. This seems to be the things all my crafty friends are constantly battling with, apparently we crafty types tend to get wrapped in our projects and forget to keep our spaces organized. Hopefully a good clean out will last for a little while at least.
